Shortly after hurricane Katrina, the city was tasked with calculating property damages for all affected properties.  Using ratios and exterior visual inspections, each property was assigned a damage assessment which would guide the permitting and rebuilding decisions.

Before making your final decisions, it is important to note that these assessments can be contested and modified based on proof of actual damages.  In many cases, it can mean the difference between having to tear down, elevate or repair your home.

Many homeowners have been successful in having these assessments modified, and have obtained permits to begin repairing their homes.

To view your property damage assessment, log on to the city's website at: www.cityofno.com

At the web site you will also find guidelines for contesting the the current damage assessments and applying for homeowners' repair permit.
